“As the final webinar of our series, this session will introduce visual sociology and the tools it provides for identifying, processing, and critiquing the potential trauma of the visible. Sociologist Denise Lim will moderate a conversation between three speakers from the International Visual Sociology Association (IVSA): Dr. David Herman, Jr., Dr. Jerome Krase, and Dr. Maria-Carolina Cambre. The speakers will highlight several visual examples that embody our current crisis, offer practical approaches that demonstrate how a visual sociology might interpret what is at stake in these images, and discuss how visual sociology can provide the critical thinking skills required to cope with the trauma that visual material represents and enacts. ”
This session will be recorded and posted here in the days following the event.
